Minku Kim was born in 1989 in Seoul, South Korea. Kim lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He is currently being represented by Berggruen Gallery in San Francisco and frequently exhibits his works in art fairs around the US such as Art Basel Miami Beach.

His work caught our eye because of the liveliness of the composition yet at the same time the calming essence of it.

His S.E.P. series emphasizes and investigates what Kim cites as the true foundations of painting: light, color, composition, and space. The careful layering of four to seven colors guided by precise compositional strategies takes from a few weeks to 2 years to complete.
